We adopted Pigwidgeon from a good local pet store (where we get all our piggie supplies) after hearing Lennie respond to sample piggie sounds from a website played on our computer.  Deciding that Lennie needed a friend, we found Pigwidgeon.

At the time, he was only about a month old, fit soundly in one hand, and had short dark fur.

Now we have discovered that Pigwidgeon actually has long fur (his "frilly dress") and the dark fur of his back covers a little patch of blonde fur on his bum.  It is particularily entertaining to see him whenever he stands up to get a better view of something, because his fur sticks out to the side in little sweeping curls making his dress look even bigger.  The only downside is we rarely see his hind legs because they're always covered up.

Pigwidgeon is named after Ron Weasley's owl from the Harry Potter books.  We thought the name cute at the time.  Little did we know how accurate a name it would be.  While quiet at night and during the middle of the day, in the evenings after we have come home, Pigwidgeon will NOT SHUT UP.  He wheeks and wheeks and wheeks and wheeks.  He wheeks going up his ramp in his pighouse.  He wheeks going down the ramp in his pighouse.  He wheeks while walking around the top of the sofa during lap time, and he wheeks when he's sitting absolutely still on the sofa during lap time.
