We adopted Lennie from the Massachusetts SPCA at Angell
Memorial Hospital in Jamaica Plain in 2004. In 2006, Lennie made a
critical trip back to Angell Memorial.
After noticing some symptoms, we took Lennie to the
exotics service at Angell Memorial and he was diagnosed with a bladder stone.
They recommended surgery and we had Lennie scheduled for surgery the next
Friday.
Thankfully Lennie sailed through his surgery and while
we knew they wanted to keep him overnight, we were informed that one of the
gating factors on how soon he could come home was how fast he resumed eating.
The exotics service encouraged us to come visit him and bring treats to
encourage him to eat, so we made a trip that night to go visit him complete with
a baggie of his favorites, including some red pepper, apple, baby carrots, and
clementines.
The next day they called us and told us that Lennie had
been pounding down the peppers, pulling them out of the hands of the staff that
had become quite enamored with him.
They even put a note on his discharge papers:
"Lennie is such a doll; he made a lot of friends in his
short time here!! Thanks for letting us take care of him."
Thank you to the staff of Angell Memorial Hospital and
the Massachusetts SPCA.
