We adopted Lennie from the Massachusetts SPCA at Angell Memorial Hospital in Jamaica Plain.

Lennie's picture from his Petfinder listing.

Lennie had been at the shelter for some time, based on when we first saw him on Petfinder.  By the time we got there, Lennie's friend had already been adopted and now Lennie was being housed in a small cage with a bunny that was much larger than him.  Already quite the fraidy pig, he was rather stressed out (judging from how much he shed while we held him) from the noise of the cat adoption area on the left and the dog adoption area on the right, not to mention the giant bunny he was living with.

While it took some time for Lennie to develop the typically more overt aspects of Guinea Pigs most people expect, in particular the energetic wheeking at the sound of any plastic being rustled or the refrigerator door being opened, he has become quite insistent at the timely delivery of his evening veggies.

Lennie is named after Lennie Briscoe, Jerry Orbach's character from Law & Order.  Jerry Orbach had just passed away and we were feeling the loss all Law & Order fans felt at the time.
